Keep reading to see some examples of my favorite fall photography locations in Northern California!

Pampas Grass

One of my favorite locations is pampas grass in the fall! This location has loads of texture, color and beautiful light! We can play with beautiful compositions and get beautiful fall tones. This is in the Sacramento region.

Golden Grass and Trees

Another favorite fall photography location in Northern California is golden grass tree locations! This particular one has gorgeous light and a little creek to play in. Like pampas grass, these locations are full of texture, color, and golden hues. This spot is perfect to capture that playful fall vibe.

Golden Grass and Oak Trees

Another favorite fall photography location in Northern California is golden grass and oak tree locations! This spot is very iconic for a California fall vibe. Golden hues and warm tones of the oak trees with beautiful light is a great fall pick!

Eucalyptus Trees

I love eucalyptus trees in the fall! They always have a beautiful cool minty hue to the leaves and I love the light at this location, too. These tones offer a very timeless look. Also, I love the easy neutral path that is sometimes filled with autumn leaves from other types of trees on the trail. It is also super easy to access and is a nice central location only 45 minutes from San Francisco.

Olive Trees

One of my all time favorites, especially in the fall, olive trees have the most gorgeous colors! The light here is magical. I love that we have this private farm to ourselves with a reservation. It is so peaceful and clients always have a great time at this spot. The hill blocks the light early here so I like to schedule sessions 2 hours before sunset at this spot, which makes things nice and early for young kiddos. These trees often have winding, graceful branches that provide a natural frame for families. This spot is a great half way point for me to meet clients (I live in Benicia) who live closer to Sacramento. Private farm fees of $100 for this location.

Zinnia Farms

These top the list for my favorite fall photography locations in Northern California! These late-blooming flowers can add a pop of color to your fall sessions, creating a playful and lively atmosphere. Zinnias come in a variety of colors, from pinks and reds to yellows and oranges, making them ideal for family sessions. Zinnia farms often feature rows upon rows of flowers, perfect for creating depth and leading lines in your compositions. I have 2 fave spots for these colorful fall flowers. One closer to Sacramento that continues blooming in October! Another fave is closer to and blooms in September. Private fees required for one of these locations.

Rose Garden

Even in fall, rose gardens can provide a magical ethereal feel for your photography sessions. Many varieties of roses continue to bloom into autumn, offering beautiful pops of color to your session. Roses are timeless and add an air of romance and elegance to any session. I have several really great rose garden photography spots from North to South Bay.

Cactus Garden

For a location that offers something a little different, cactus gardens are an incredible choice for your fall photography sessions. The unique shapes, textures, and vibrant greens of the cacti create a bold, dramatic backdrop that pairs beautifully with fall’s warm tones. Cactus gardens offer a unique blend of rugged beauty and elegance, perfect for clients looking for a distinctive fall session that stands out from the traditional fall location. This location is in South bay.

Vineyards

For those seeking more traditional fall imagery and colors, vineyards offer the best for these! In September, there are gorgeous greens with the loads of grapes on the vine. In mid October, they start to turn a variety of fall colors like red, oranges, and yellow! These spots are one of the only spots in the area that have those color changes and traditional fall colors. Reservation fee required for this location.

Apple Tree Farms

Apple Tree Farms are particularly magical in the fall. I love the playfulness of picking apples or playing games running through the rows, and getting lots of soft sweet connection moments. This location has beautiful light, too! This spot is way up north near Apple hill.

These are some of my tried and true fall locations I have hand picked over the years!
